EPL: Approaching the end

The Premier league is past halfway and the battle in the bottom half is just as interesting as the top of the table where Chelsea currently holds the top spot, 9 points ahead of rivals Tottenham who also have had an amazing season so far and are placed second on the points table. Nothing seems to stop the Blues, and it is very unlikely that they would lose on such a big lead considering how well they have played throughout the season.
20 teams fighting for one coveted trophy
Behind Chelsea, the battle of the top 6 teams is getting quite interesting, with Spurs currently at 50 points, one point behind Spurs is Manchester City sitting at third place on the table. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are one point behind each other claiming the fourth, fifth and the sixth spot on the table respectively. making it only a 5 points difference between the second and sixth placed teams.

Tottenham seeks redemption in the European competitions next season after a horrible campaign in the Champions league this season, and with their current standing, they would automatically qualify for the group stage of Champions league next year. Both Liverpool (currently at fifth place) and Manchester United would also try their best to seal a spot in the Champions league too, after missing the competition this year.

With only 14 rounds left in the Premier league, the bottom six teams have to get as much points as possible from the remaining matches. Only two points separate the bottom six teams. Sunderland having a terrible season is sharing the last place with Crystal Palace both teams with 19 points and Middlesbrough, Leicester and Swansea at 21 points are placed 15th, 16th and 17th respectively. Hull City at 18th spot with 20 points rounds off the bottom six.

Looking at Leicester City`s matches this season, it`s really hard to believe that they actually won the Premier league last season. They have been struggling all season long, and losing their most important player N`Golo Kante to Chelsea this season has left a really big void to fill for the Foxes, as they desperately try to maintain their position in the Premier league next season.

It is an interesting competition going on at the top as well as at the bottom of the table and we will have to wait till the end of May to know if Chelsea can win the title race or there is a twist in the tale or whether Leicester will be able to avoid the humiliation.
