Chelsea gun down Gunners in London Derby

It`s Saturday and a big day in London, as the two biggest football clubs of the city meets for the second time this season. Conte`s Chelsea versus Wenger`s Arsenal both teams running for the Premier league title this season. Currently Chelsea is at the top of the table with 56 points, 9 points ahead of rivals Arsenal. A win for the Gunners would make the title race more interesting, but Chelsea has been in a very good form recently, only losing one game of the last 17 matches, while Arsenal managing to win only 5 of their last 10 fixtures.

While the form was with the blues, Gunners had the psychological advantage having beaten Chelsea 3-0 in their last encounter at the Emirates stadium scoring all three goals in first half, the victory was already sealed before half time. Chelsea on the other hand having been working on their tactics since that match. After the loss, Conte made some changes in Chelsea`s line-up, and changing the formation to 3-4-3 with two wingbacks bolstering the defense, has worked wonders making Chelsea close to unbeatable this season leaving fans with high anticipation.

When the two teams met on Saturday, Chelsea`s 3-4-3 worked once again as the Blues dominated the first half on Stamford bridge, not giving much space or time at all for Arsenal to create any good scoring chances. An early goal in the 13th minute from Marcos Alonso with his header gave Chelsea a 1-0  lead which they were able to maintain until half time. The goal from Alonso was a bit questionable though, because he did challenge Gunners' wingback Hector Bellerin in order to get to the ball. Bellerin had to be replaced by Gabriel Paulista after the challenge.

Chelsea continued to push in the second half and the result soon reflected on the scoreline. The blues upped their lead by 2-0 in the 53rd minute with individual brilliance from Eden Hazard, who has been on fire throughout the season. Arsenal, now two goals down, starts to take over ball possession, and Chelsea focuses on defense while counter attacking at every possible opportunity. Thanks to the new tactic, Chelsea`s defense has been solid throughout the season and once again they had no problems dealing with Arsenals attempts to break up the home team's lines. Cesc Fàbregas who came on the pitch to replace Eden Hazard in 84th minute made his presence felt only one minute later as he capitalized on the poor pass from Arsenal`s goal keeper Peter `Cech sending the ball into the empty net swelling the lead to 3-0 for the Chelsea. The game is as good as gone for the Gunners. Despite Arsenal's efforts to fight back and Oliver Giroud`s goal during the injury time, it was all too late for the Gunners. Chelsea earned 3 well deserved points from the match and continues their convincing run for the Premier league title with the final score 3-1.
